Privacy policy

Information we collect

• Account information. Our authentication provider, Clerk, manages your account, email address, profile information, sign-in credentials, and sessions. If you choose Google or Microsoft sign-in, that provider shares identity information such as your name, email address, profile image, and provider account identifier. We use it to sign you in and associate your saved lists with your account. This sign-in does not give the directory access to your inbox, calendar, or files.
• Saved lists. We store your account identifier, list names, saved firm identifiers, and creation and update timestamps. Lists are private to your account and are not published in the directory or shared with the firms you save.
• Messages and profile requests. When you contact us, we receive the details you provide, including your name, email, optional phone number, message, and any firm relationship or evidence you submit with a claim or correction.
• Technical information. Hosting and authentication services process information such as IP addresses, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps, and security events to deliver and protect the service.
• Public business information. The directory includes firm information from public business sources and submitted updates, which may include professional names, roles, and business contact details. This information is separate from private account lists.

How we use and disclose information

We use information to operate the directory, authenticate accounts, maintain private lists, respond to requests, review profile corrections and claims, troubleshoot problems, and prevent misuse. A claim request does not automatically change a public profile.

Service providers process information for these purposes: Clerk for authentication, Neon for database storage, and Vercel for hosting. Website form submissions, when available, are delivered through Resend. Support correspondence is handled through our business email service. Google and Microsoft also process information under their own policies when you choose their sign-in options. Providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.

We may disclose information when required by law, to address fraud or security incidents, or to protect legal rights. Public directory information is available to visitors and search engines; private saved lists are not part of that public information.

Cookies and tracking

Account services use cookies and similar browser storage for sign-in, session continuity, and security. Blocking them may prevent account features from working. The directory does not currently load advertising pixels or a third-party audience analytics script. Hosting and authentication providers still maintain operational and security records. The site does not change its behavior in response to a browser Do Not Track signal.

Retention and your choices

You can remove saved firms, rename lists, or delete lists in My lists. You can manage your account profile and connected sign-in providers through the account menu. Deleting your sign-in account does not currently trigger automatic deletion of its saved-list records. Delete your lists first or contact us to request removal of the records associated with your account.

We retain account and list information to provide the service, and support correspondence as needed to handle requests and related records. Security, backup, and legally required records may remain after deletion from the active service. Retention depends on the purpose of the record and the provider involved; we do not promise immediate deletion from backups.

To request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, email yousef@engineeringfirms.us. We may need to verify your identity. Privacy rights vary by location; we will handle requests as required by applicable law. For public profile corrections, use the request link on the firm's page or contact us.

Security, children, and other websites

We use access controls and encrypted connections to help protect information, but no service can guarantee complete security. This directory is intended for adults researching business services, not children under 13. Contact us if a child has provided personal information so we can address it.

Links to firms and other websites lead to independently operated services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Changes to this notice

We will post updates on this page and change the date above. If a change materially affects how we use account information, we will provide an additional notice on the site or through an appropriate account communication, as required.
