About the firm
Typhoon HIL is a technology and market leader in ultra-high fidelity Hardware in the Loop (HIL) solutions for design, testing, and validation of power electronics, microgrids, e-Mobility, EV powertrain software testing, and distribution control and protection systems. Typhoon HIL platform ushered a new era of model-based testing and validation of control software and hardware with its embedded, ultra-high fidelity real-time Hardware in the Loop (HIL) platform. The core technology is based on proprietary numerical algorithms, ultra-low latency application-specific processors, and optimized software architecture. Our HIL systems are widely used by engineers in microgrids, solar PV inverters, wind turbine converters, battery storage, marine power systems, motor drives, automotive, and traction industries to speed up time to market, reduce the cost of testing, and improve quality and reliability. Back in 2008, the founders of Typhoon HIL - leaders in engineering, IT, and physics - came together to solve a pressing problem: to reimagine a better way for companies to test products and components that would save them time and money and accelerate their development processes. This led us to create the world’s first real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) platform for power electronics. In the simplest terms, this means we developed a hardware and software solution that runs real-time digital simulations that can interact with a physical prototype, in much the same way that a flight simulator allows pilots to train for different situations using the physical controls from the cockpit of the aircraft. Moreover, tests using these simulations can be easily automated to replicate thousands of possible conditions and scenarios with just the click of a button.
