Projects

Bottom Electrode Push Up Device

Metals

Project details

Provided analysis and design drawings for a new proprietary bottom electrode push-up device, designed to change out the electrode from within an electric arc furnace shell. The engineering work focused on identifying and eliminating safety hazards associated with this repetitive maintenance task.

Monster Die

Manufacturing

Project details

Performed a combination of finite element analysis and hand calculations to deliver a fatigue analysis and optimized design for a monster die. The die operates as part of a 31,000-tonne multi-directional horizontal press system that imparts end features onto medium-speed engine and industrial crankshafts.

Furnace Cooling System Piping

Metals

Project details

Planned, engineered, and designed a concrete trough water cooling system at ground level to replace a buried piping system, running from the pump house to the furnace to improve equipment lifespan. Collaborated with ShawCo to plan the routing of the system.

Crucible Transfer Car

Metals

Project details

Partnered with an installation contractor to design, analyze, and manufacture a new crucible transfer car with increased load capacity.
