Projects

Choccolocco Park

Oxford, AL · Parks & Open Space · 2016 · Client: City of Oxford

Project details

The 350-acre sports, recreation, and archaeological park project involved a Section 404 Individual Permit and a Section 404 Individual wetland permit modification. During initial grading, a significant cultural resource was discovered, leading to the preparation of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, State Historic Preservation Officer, Native American Tribal Preservation Officer, and the City of Oxford. Portions of the culturally significant landscape, including an earthen mound, were reconstructed, requiring a FEMA 'No-Rise' certification. An educational trail was also developed to reflect the site's Native American legacy.

Five Mile Creek Flood Control

Tarrant, AL · Stormwater & Flood Control · 2016 · Client: City of Tarrant

Project details

This flood control project spans Five Mile Creek in Tarrant, Alabama, aimed at reducing regional flooding through the construction of an upstream flood control structure. Services included submitting a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) application for engineering study and construction funding, completing a wetland delineation, and obtaining a Section 404 Individual Permit. Stream mitigation responsibilities were implemented to address unavoidable impacts to the channel.

Cahaba River Mitigation Bank

Brent, AL · Environmental & Remediation · 2014 · Client: Private Bank Owner

Project details

This project established a combined stream and wetland mitigation bank on an 800-acre site severely altered by farming and cattle operations to serve compensatory mitigation needs in Middle Alabama. The bank restores natural stream flows and wetland hydrology through culvert removal, bridge replacement, stream restoration, exotic species control, site preparation, and tree planting. Ongoing management involves actively monitoring the status of credits and determining necessary annual construction and tree-planting actions.

Delta Regional River Park Bike Trail

Crittenden County, AR · Parks & Open Space · 2016 · Client: Crittenden County and the City of West Memphis

Project details

This project constructed new pedestrian and bike path improvements on the western bank of the Mississippi River by upgrading existing gravel county roads and constructing new paths using recycled milled asphalt material. Environmental compliance services included conducting a wetland delineation, obtaining Nationwide Permit approval, conducting an endangered and threatened species survey with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service concurrence, and preparing a Federal Highways Administration Categorical Exclusion NEPA document.
