Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. managed the preliminary and final design phases of this major bridge replacement, which spans approximately 3,000 feet and carries an average of 40,000 vehicles per day. The project involved an extensive inspection and testing program, an Environmental Impact Statement process, roadway approach design, traffic management, and environmental compliance monitoring during construction.

Following an extensive investigation and field inspection of the previous fracture-critical bridge structure, Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. prepared the contract bid documents for a replacement 300-foot open-spandrel steel deck-arch structure. The project maintained I-95's 180,000 daily vehicles through extensive construction phasing and detour study, and included the rehabilitation or replacement of five other nearby bridges.

This accelerated bridge construction project replaced two existing concrete structures with single-span steel plate-girder superstructures supported on geosynthetic reinforced soil abutments. Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. was responsible for the complete design, structural analysis, and final contract preparation, facilitating offline superstructure construction and installation via Self-Propelled Modular Transporters.

The replacement design featured a two-span prestressed concrete beam structure on drilled shafts with precast architectural fascia panels, along with realigned approaches to improve safety and environmental outcomes.
